CAFDIL ORGANIZES A 2 DAY WORKSHOP FOR BASIC SCHOOLS IN CENTRAL REGION

The Cardinal’s Foundation For Distance Learning (CAFDIL) has on the 9th and 10th February 2022, organized a 2 day intensive Workshop for Teachers and Headteachers of 16 CAFDIL Sponsored Basic Schools located in the Central Region namely, Nkanfoa St. Paul’s Catholic School, Putubiw D/A Basic, Asebu Catholic Basic, Asebu Ekroful Catholic Basic, Abakrampa Catholic School, Baifikrom M/A Basic, Ekumpoano Catholic School, Assassan Catholic School, Nyanfeku Ekroful Catholic School, Nkwanta Catholic School, Cornelia Connelly School of Holy Child Jesus, St. Anne School, Pere Planque School, Mary Queen Of Peace School, Elimina Catholic Girls School.

The Workshop began at exactly 9:00am on both days, and was held at the premises of CAFDIL Television opposite the Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 4th Ridge Cape Coast.

This year’s chosen Theme for the Workshop was “UNDERSTANDING THE NEW CURRICULUM, AND THE STRATEGIES TO TEACH THE STRANDS IN THE NEW CURRICULUM”. The Board of Directors for the CAFDIL Project invited these renowned Educational Experts. Dr. Ben Arthur, Dr. B. Duedu, Mr. Christopher Addai Boateng and Mrs. Sarah Ewusiewaa Koranteng served as the resource persons for the Mathematics Department.

The English Department had Prof. Philip Gborsong, Mr. Tony V. Ananse, Madam Margaret Adzoho and Mr. Johnson Tumawu. The Science Department had Dr. Anthony Koomson, Rev Kow .A. Wie Addo and Ms. Cynthia Amoah as the resource persons to help guide the teachers at the workshop to understand and adopt effective ways to teach the 2019 Basic  School Curriculum for English Language, Mathematics and Science.

There were about 130 Teachers and Headteachers who took part in the workshops.

At the end of the workshops, the participants were greatful to the Cardinal’s Foundation for organizing such a timely workshop to help them respond adequately to the demands of the New Curriculum for basic schools. The next workshop is scheduled for next academic year.
